Keep it in the family

Filed under: — Scott Johnston @ 10:45 am

Here at Jotspot we have customers using our wiki to support a wide range of group activities. Everybody knows our wiki is great for things like project management, team collaboration, company intranets, book authoring, managing your movie, and more recently, planning your class reunion. We also have customers using it to bring their family together online. We really liked this idea. So we teamed up with Adam Howell (creator of trackslife) and built the Jotspot Family Site.

Best of all, we really liked how Family Site demonstrated the power of our wiki, so we made it free.

With no setup required, the Jotspot Family Site allows you to share a family calendar, see your family on a map, build a family tree, plan your family reunion, share family recipes, and more.

Head on over and check it out.

Wikis now Making Movies

Filed under: — Scott McMullan @ 5:04 pm

Well, not quite making yet. But at least helping the crazy collaborative process that is movie making.

Heather Green over at Blogspotting posted about Ascendant film’s use of JotSpot during the financing and production of the new film Lucky Number Slevin:

“…the makers of the film, Ascendant Films, used wiki technology from JotSpot to track the film’s financing and production. Instead of using paper or emails to send contracts, revisions, and budget information between lawyers, financiers and production staff in Berlin, London, LA and Montreal, they used the open space online provided by Jotspot.”

Pretty cool. And with Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, and Lucy Liu starring, the flick has potential. I’m definitely going to check it out.

Jotspot + Photo = Joto?

Filed under: — Scott Johnston @ 10:16 pm

Whew, long time, no post.

We hear a lot of customers ask for a better way to upload photos to their wiki. In response we put together a photo gallery app that can be dropped into your Jotspot Wiki. You can check it out in the gallery. Enjoy!

Note that the Photo Gallery is currently only available to Wikis created after March 21st. It will be available to all wikis at the end of April.
